Mike Sodrel

Michael E. " Mike" Sodrel ( born December 17, 1945 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana) is an American politician. Between 2005 and 2007 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Mike Sodrel studied at Indiana University. Between 1966 and 1973 he was a member of the National Guard. Business, he worked for the family business Sodrel Truck Lines. He also founded his own company, the Free Enterprise System Inc., which operates in the field of passenger transport.

Politically Sodrel was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 2004 he was in the ninth constituency of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat Baron Hill on January 3, 2005. Since he lost in 2006 against Hill, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 2007. There he was a member of the Committee on Agriculture, the Committee on Transport and infrastructure as well as in the scientific committee.

Sodrel was regarded as rather conservative MP; he was against further environmental laws and against a restriction of the right to private gun ownership. He has been married since 1967.
