Robert J. Tracewell

Robert John Trace Well ( born May 7, 1852 in Front Royal, Virginia; † July 28, 1922 in Evansville, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even as a child was Robert Trace Well in 1854 with his parents in Corydon, Indiana, where he later attended the public schools. Then he graduated from the Hanover College. After a subsequent study of law and its made ​​in 1875 admitted to the bar he began in Corydon to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1894 he was in the third electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Jason B. Brown on March 4, 1895. Since he Democrat William T. Zenor defeated in 1896, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1897.

Between 1897 and 1914 Robert Tracewell was head of the audit ( Comptroller ) from the U.S. Treasury. He then practiced as a lawyer again. Since 1918 Tracewell Judge Superior Court was in Vanderburgh County. He died on 28 July 1922 in Evansville and was buried in Corydon.
