Neumarkt, South Tyrol

Neumarkt (Italian: Enga ) is a market town in the south of South Tyrol in Italy and serves as the seat of the district community Überetsch sub country. The eponymous main village is located near the left bank of the Adige.

Neumarkt was founded in autumn 1189 by bishop Konrad of Trient as a new market of Enn. The wealth that was acquired by full-year trading to still reflects in the village center, whose appearance probably goes back mainly to the 16th century. Geography

Location

Neumarkt is located in the country, a wide section of the Southern Alps by pulling the Adige Valley. Neighboring municipalities are Salurn in the south, Montan in the east, to the north and Kaltern Tramin, Kurtatsch, Magrè and Cortina in the West. Expansion

The municipality of Neumarkt covers a total area of ​​23.67 km ². In the area of the valley floor, it remains with isolated exceptions, mostly on the orographic left (east ) bank of the Adige. In the north of the municipal territory ends at the foot of the hill of Castel spring, in the south it extends to approximately the height of Cortina on the right bank of the Adige. Community structure

The village settlements of the municipality exist alongside the main town of Neumarkt still from the fractions Vill, Mazon, Laag and St. Florian. Landscape and Nature

A variety of mountain streams supply the Neumarkt community with plenty of water before they arrived in the valley flow into the river Adige. The most important source of water among them is the 10-km long Trudner Bach, whose catchment area covers approximately 28 square kilometers and is dominated by sedimentary rocks. 2010, the creek was examined as a whole three times on its drinking water quality, and the results were very good throughout the year and represented a first class of biological water quality according to benthic invertebrates. With an average number of 30 different taxa and a biotic index of 12.5, the best result of all sampled streams in South Tyrol was reached on Trudner Bach, which is probably due to the relatively near-natural morphology of the stream bed. Climate

The climate is temperate with mild Mediterranean Neumarkt embossing in flora and fauna. History

Already in 1181 a meadow to the Adige River Enn was called, were compiled on the rafts for the transport on the river. Established was the place as burgum novum Egne in 1189 by Bishop Conrad of Trento. Due to its central location in the lowlands to the trade routes between north and south, and in particular by the Adige river navigation, the village gained great economic and cultural importance in the Middle Ages. Theater
