Obozersky

Oboserski (Russian Обозерский ) is an urban-type settlement in North West Russia. The place belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 3620 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). It is located in Rajon Plesetsk.

Geography

Oboserski located approximately 120 kilometers south of the Oblasthauptstadt Arkhangelsk. The town of Plesetsk, the administrative center of the raion, is located 82 kilometers south of the settlement. To the west of the lake Oboserski Obosero is ( Обозеро ), after which the village is named. In the lake the rivers Ileksa and Chernaya lead ( Черная ). The Obosero springs from the river Waimuga ( Ваймуга ), which in the north running through the settlement across the river Jemza ( Емца ) is on the left side to the Northern Dvina.

History

Oboserski emerged at the end of the 19th century with the establishment of forest workers in the forest industry. 1910, the railway station was opened Oboserskaja. In 1958 Oboserski received the status of an urban-type settlement.

In the 15th century the village Malyje Ozerki ( Малые Озерки ) was founded on the territory of today's Oboserski. With the collectivization in Soviet times, the village was a farming cooperative ( сельхозартель ) named Lewatschewa ( Левачева ) and a little later with the kolkhoz Novy Put ( Новый путь ) merged. After the transformation of collective farms to state farm, the settlement has at times been part of the state farm of the large village Sawinski before they fell apart later. Some of the houses were rebuilt in the settlement Oboserski.

Economy and infrastructure

Oboserski is a station of the Northern Railway on the route Moscow - Arkhangelsk and an important railway junction. In addition to forestry, there is a large building materials operation ( limestone). Also locomotives and railways are maintained in Oboserski.
