Okrouhlá (Česká Lípa District)

Okrouhlá ( German Shaiba ) is a municipality of Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic. It is located on the northern tip of the Bohemian Uplands. The neighboring town of Novy Bor ( Haida ) is only a kilometer away.

History

The town was founded during the second colonization in the early 16th century. The first written mention as " village and forest called disc " comes from the 1543 disc belonged to the rule Neuschloss. ; Owners were Anne of Salhausen and then the Lords of Wartenberg and Albrecht von Wallenstein. Finally, the place fell to the Lords of Kaunitz. Administratively formed Shaiba from the mid-19th century, a municipality in the district court or in the district Bohemian Haida Leipa.

The production and finishing of glass have become the place for traditional export products. The entrepreneur Karl Meltzer, owner of the paint shop and manufacturer of stained glass windows, built a curious pseudo- Gothic building in 1893.
