Svor (Česká Lípa District)

Svor ( German Röhrsdorf in Zwickau ) is a municipality of Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic.

Geography

The place is located in the Lusatian Mountains in the valley of the brook Svorský creek at the crossroads of Europe road 442 from Decin ( Děčín ) to Liberec ( Reichenberg ) with the main road # 9 of Praha ( Prague ) to Rumburk ( Rumburg ) and on to Lobau. It is located at the foot of both the mountain cone Klíč ( Kleis ) and the Rousínovský vrch ( Hamm Rich Mountain ).

History

In 1788, the Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built in Röhrsdorf. 1866 began construction of the Bohemian Northern Railway of Bakov nad Jizerou after Rumburk that performs Svor. Because of the mountainous terrain more challenging buildings were required. One of these is the railway embankment in Svor who has a height of 15 m. In 1873, the glassworks was opened.
