Pääsküla

Pääsküla is a district (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It is located in Nõmme district.

Description

The municipality has 9,571 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010). Its area is 5.95 square kilometers. Through the region of the river Pääsküla ( Pääsküla Jõgi ) flows. In the field Pääskülas is partly also the nine -square-kilometer Moor of Pääsküla ( Pääsküla raba ).

The village Pääsküla ( German Paeskülla ) was first documented in 1241 in Liber Census Daniæ. In the 16th century it was owned by the Teutonic Order.

Between 1912 and 1917 a garden city, which was called " Peterhof " (Estonian Peetri aedlinn ) was born near the village. She was united in April 1923, the city Nõmme ( German Nömme ). In 1940 she was incorporated as wholly Nõmme of Tallinn.
