Route 4 (Paraguay)

The Ruta 4, also known as Grail. José Díaz Eduvigis called, is a highway in Paraguay. The road is an east -west route through the south of the country, from San Ignacio to Paso de Patria, near the border with Argentina. The RN 4 197 km long.

Street Description

The RN 4 begins in the village of San Ignacio on the RN1 and runs westward through sparsely populated areas and wetlands with little afforestation and little acreage. On the first 130 kilometers to Pilar, the RN 4 leads hardly villages. Pilar is located on the border with Argentina. There is a ferry across the Río Paraguay. The RN 4 leads to Pilar in the south- west always parallel to the river along to the south westerly tip of Paraguay. The RN 4 ends in the town of Paso de Patria, near the confluence of the two rivers Paraná and Paraguay.

History

The RN 4 is not very important road as it passes by only small villages. It is the only road in the southwest of Paraguay through a sparsely populated area. In 2012 it was paved east-west part of San Ignacio to Pilar, but not the southern part of the route.
