The Ruta 9, also known as Carlos Antonio López, is a trunk road in Paraguay. It forms a north-south connection in the west of the country. The road from Asunción to the border with Bolivia and has a length of 835 km, the longest highway of the country.

Street Description

The road begins in the north of the capital Asuncion on the Route 3 you crossed the Paraguay River on a large bridge, followed almost immediately the sparsely populated Gran Chaco, a hot savannah. The Route 9 passes through several villages and is the only paved road through the northwestern Paraguay. In Pozo Colorado Ruta 5 is crossed, the only other major paved road in western Paraguay. The area is very flat and partially wooded. The road ends at the border with Bolivia.

History

The Ruta 9 is a strategic transport route from Paraguay. The area, which runs through it, is one of the least populated of South America, with often less than one inhabitant per square kilometer. The northern 130 km were not yet paved in 2013. Through traffic to Bolivia via an unnumbered road to the west.

On August 19, 1978, the capital was opened north of the Puente Remanso via the Paraguay River; this is the only bridge over the river in Asunción.
