The Ruta 8, also known as Dr. Blas Garay, is a highway in Paraguay. The road forms a north-south connection in the eastern half of the country from San Estanislao about Coronel Oviedo Coronel to Bogado and 320 kilometers long.

Street Description

The Ruta 8 starts in the town of San Estanislao on the Route 3 The road leads south through hilly savanna, which is partially built. This area is very sparsely populated. After nearly 100 kilometers to reach the city of Coronel Oviedo, a major hub of eastern Paraguay. Here the Ruta 2 of Asunción and the Ruta 7 crosses to Ciudad del Este. The Ruta 8 leads to the south; west of the route is the Cerro Pero with 842 meters the highest mountain in Paraguay. The road passes through some small towns and across the savannah with some meadows and wetlands. In the south of Paraguay is unpaved part. It ends in the city of Coronel Bogado at an intersection with the Route 1

History

The Ruta 8 is traditionally a main road in Paraguay, also because it leads to some major cities. The northern part of San Estanislao until after Caazapa was paved in 2013, but the southern part of Caazapa to Coronel Bogado not.
