San Diego County, California
San Diego County is a county located in the U.S. state of California. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is in San Diego.
Geography
The county covers an area of 11,721 km ². The County flows through the San Diego River. The southern end of the county already forms the border with Mexico.
History
The roots of the county dates back to the time in which the Mission San Diego de Alcalá was founded in 1769 there. San Diego County was one of the first counties in California. It was created in 1850 when the state was founded. Parts of the county were later given to the Riverside County in 1893 and to the Imperial County in 1907.
The Countyname comes from the San Diego Bay, a bay, the Sebastian Vizcaino in 1602, named after the Franciscan laity San Diego de Alcala de Henares, whose name was emblazoned on the flagship.
Historical buildings
- About 6.5 miles south of Warner Springs is taken up by the National Historic Landmark historic Warner 's Ranch is located. She is also on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP 66,000,228 ).

According to the census of 2000, there were 2,813,833 people in San Diego County. There were 994 677 households and 663 449 families. The population density was 259 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 66.52 % White, 5.74 % African American, 0.86 % Native American, 8.88 % Asian, 0.48 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 12.82 % from other races groups; 4.69% were descended from two or more races. 26.69 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 994 677 households out of which 33.90 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 50.70 % were married couples living together, 11.60% had a female householder with no husband. 33.30 % were non-families. 24.20 % of all households and 7.90% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.29 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 25.70 % under the age of 18, 11.30 % from 18 to 24, 32.00 % from 25 to 44 years, 19.80% between 45 and 64 years and 11.20% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 101.20 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.70 males.
The median income for a household was $ 47,067, and the median income for a family was $ 53,438. Males have a median income of $ 36,952, women $ 30,356. The per capita income was $ 22,926. 12.40% percent of the population and 8.90% of families are below the poverty line. 16.50% of those under age 18 and 6.80% were 65 years or older.
