Sapulut

Federal State

Sapulut or Sepulut is a small town in the Malaysian state of Sabah. Sapulut is located at Sungai Sapulut, 80 kilometers in a straight line south-east of Keningau. The town belongs to the administrative district Nabawan and is part of the territory Interior division.

About five kilometers from Sapulut the Gunung Antulai rises (1713 m).

Infrastructure

Sapulut is connected via an asphalt road to Keningau. The continuation of the road over Kalabakan to Tawau to provide a faster connection for three hours between the capital and Tawau future. Originally, the project should have been completed by 2007, but the section between Sapulut and Kalabakan still exists from a gravel road, since the completion of the pavement was removed from the contract with the construction company because of a corruption scandal.

Batu Punggul

Batu Punggul is a striking, from the rain forest rising steeply above rock formation that plays an important role in the legends of the Murut. The rock is located at Kampong Tataluan. To get from Sepulut there, a 2-5 hour drive in a wooden canoe with outboard of the Murut is required.
