SharkaÅshchyna Raion
The Rajon Scharkouschtschyna (White Russian Шаркоўшчынскі раён; Russian Шарковщинский район ) is an administrative unit in the west of Wizebskaja Woblasz in Belarus. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement Scharkouschtschyna. The Rajon has an area of 1100 km ² and comprises 272 villages.
Geography
The Rajon Scharkouschtschyna located in the western part of the Woblast Vitebsk. The Nachbarrajone in Wizebskaja Woblasz are in the northwest Braslau, northeast Miory, in the southeast and southwest Hlybokaje Pastawy.
History
The Rajon Scharkouschtschyna was formed on 15 January 1940 In 1962, the administrative unit was dissolved and restored in 1966.
