163rd Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 163rd Infantry Division was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht.

Division history

On 18 November 1939, the 163rd Infantry Division was placed on the training grounds Doberitz and Jiiterbog in Military District III as a division of the 7th wave. On January 1, 1940, they received reinforcements from field replacement battalions to reach its full potential.

As of April 1940, the Division took part in the occupation of Norway, where she remained until mid-1941. Then they fought in Finland on the river Svir, as well as in space Kandalakscha, from October 1944 to January 1945 back to Norway.

Subsequently, the Division was regrouped in Aarhus, to be set up in February 1945 in Pomerania, where she was broken up in March at Stargard by the Red Army. Survivors were assigned to the Navy on April 1, 1945 and incorporated into the 3rd Marine Division.
