1947 Grand Prix season

For the race of the Grand Prix season in 1947 was edited by the FIA ​​rulebook formula A.

The main criteria of the formula A were:

  • Engine capacity 4500 cc, for vehicles with compressor maximum of 1500 cc,
  • A race had to go over a race distance of 300 km or take at least three hours.

A weight limit for the race car was not fixed.

The dominant team was Alfa Romeo, as the best driver of this year to Jean -Pierre Wimille. The German riders and teams were still excluded.

The FIA honorary title of European Grand Prix was awarded in 1947 to the Belgian Grand Prix.
