1983–84 2. Bundesliga

In the season 1983/84 the 2nd Bundesliga Karlsruher SC and FC Schalke 04 achieved promotion to the Bundesliga. The MSV Duisburg failed in the relegation games.

With Karlsruhe and Schalke two losers of last year celebrated its chances of promotion. In addition to novice SC Charlottenburg had to Rot-Weiss Essen, descend VfL Osnabrück and the BV 08 Lüttringhausen from Remscheid in the league.

This season for the first time played, not a single club from Bavaria in the 2nd league. Since the introduction of the 2nd Bundesliga in 1974 a total of twelve Bavarian clubs had left the League 2 - eleven down in the Bavarian League, a - the 1st FC Nuremberg - up in the Bundesliga.
