Background

The weekend after the Grand Prix of Mexico, the U.S. Grand Prix was first held on a street course in Phoenix, Arizona. The course proved to be a relatively unspectacular. In addition, only around 32,000 spectators found one.

Training

Ayrton Senna secured his fifth pole position of the season at the fifth race weekend.
