2007–08 Regionalliga
The season 2007/08 Regional League was the 14th and last season of the Regional as the third- highest division in German football. It was last in two regional scales - played - North and South. In the relay northern played 19 teams, the South Season had a team strength of 18 The exact classification of teams within the seasons north and south have been made before the season starts by the DFB by geographical and logistical considerations. The season started on 27 July 2007 and ended on 31 May 2008.
The champion and runner-up of the scales of the North and South went directly on to the 2nd Bundesliga.
With the introduction of the 3rd Liga for the season 2008/ 09 the Regional was the last time the third- highest division in German football and also served as a qualifying round for the new league, which was introduced in the following season between the 2nd Bundesliga and the fourth division in the future Regional.
The teams qualified for the new game classes by occupied the following positions in the final table:
- Locations 1 and 2: Rise to the 2nd Bundesliga ( second teams of the Bundesliga clubs not allowed)
- Places 3-10: Qualification for the 3rd league (maximum four second teams )
- Places 11 to 18 and 19: Stay in the fourth division then Regional

North
From the North Regional Rot Weiss Ahlen and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen made the walkthrough of the league to the 2nd Bundesliga.
For the new 3 League to Fortuna Dusseldorf 1 FC Union Berlin and SV Werder Bremen II, Wuppertal SV Borussia, Rot-Weiß Erfurt, Dynamo Dresden, Kickers Emden and Eintracht Braunschweig qualified.
VfB Lübeck had no request for a possible participation in the 2nd Bundesliga and 3rd Liga and was already firmly relegated.
The other sports were relegated VfL Wolfsburg II, the SC Verl, Hamburger SV II, the SV Babelsberg 03, FC Energie Cottbus II Borussia Dortmund II, Rot-Weiss Essen and FC Magdeburg 1.

Top scorers
From the Regionalliga Süd, FSV Frankfurt and FC Ingolstadt 04 were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. The FSV Frankfurt made the walkthrough of the league to the 2nd Bundesliga.
For the new 3 League VfB Stuttgart II, the VfR Aalen, the SV Sandhausen qualified, the SpVgg Unterhaching, the SV Wacker Burghausen, Bayern Munich II, the SSV Jahn Regensburg and Stuttgart Kickers.
The sporting losers were the FSV Ludwigshafen- Oggersheim, the SC Pfullendorf, Karlsruher SC II, the KSV Hessen Kassel, the SV Elversberg and TSV 1860 München II, the SSV Reutlingen 05 and Sportfreunde Siegen.
