2008–09 Cupa României

The Cupa României was played in the 2008 /09 season to 71 times. The official name of the competition was " Cupa României Timisoreana. In the final game, which was played in Tudor Vladimirescu Stadium in Târgu Jiu, CFR Cluj won 3-0 against FC Timişoara and could thus win the trophy for the 2nd time.

Mode

In the first round of 140 teams competed against each other: the 42 winners of the League Season IV and 98 of 108 clubs from the League III. In the 2nd round 40 games were held, at which the 70 Erstrundensieger and the remaining 10 third division took part. In the third round, the 40 second-round winner played against each other. In the 4th round came to the 20 third round winners added the 36 teams from the Liga II. In the 5th round of the 28 fourth- round winners came together. The 18 clubs in the League 1 participated together with the 14 fifth- round winners from the 6th round on the Cup.
