2011 Critérium International

The 80th Critérium International was a cycling stage race, which took place on the island of Corsica from 26 to 27 March 2011. The tour was held in three stages over a total distance of 281 kilometers. The race was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2011 and classified there in the 2.HC category.

Participant

At the start, a total of 16 teams, nine of ProTeam. In addition, given the seven Professional Continental team Cofidis, le Crédit en Ligne, Team Europcar, FDJ, Bretagne- Schuller, Big Mat- Auber 93 and Saur - Sojasun from France and Skil- Shimano from the Netherlands launch permissions for the tour.

Route

The hosted by the Amaury Sport Organisation Critérium International 2011 was the second time in Corsica around Porto- Vecchio instead.

On the first day a mountain stage was on, on the seven climbs were extended. The section finally ended after a 14.3 km climb to the Col de L' Ospédale. This stage should already make a preliminary decision in the overall standings.

The following Sunday morning was a short 75 km flat stage around Porto -Vecchio on the program. In the afternoon, the race ended in the same city with a flat individual time trial over seven kilometers.

On the first mountain stage of the German Jens Voigt was the last member of the breakaway group of the day, from the Pim Ligthart laid the foundation for his victory in the mountains classification in the mountain stages, caught up at the foot of the Col de l' Ospedale of a twenty -man chase group.
