2012 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships

The 43 Sprint Speed ​​Skating World Cup was held on 28th and 29th January 2012 at the Calgary Olympic Oval in. Calgary was the fourth time the venue for the Sprint World Championship.

Competition

When Sprint World Championships four routes are run, twice each over a distance of 500 m and 1,000 m, on both days, two routes are ever run. If a sportsman starts on the inner race over a distance on the first day, it starts on the second day to the outer track and vice versa. Only the top 24 men and women after three routes qualify for the fourth line.

The times obtained are converted into points. About 500 m corresponds to the elapsed time of the score, over 1,000 m yields the elapsed time in seconds divided by 2 the score. The athlete with the lowest total score after four routes wins the sprint World Cup.
