2013 Dakar Rally

The 2013 Dakar Rally was the 35th running of the Dakar Rally and the 34th, which was actually extended. It took place for the fifth time in South America.

The rally started on January 5, 2013 in Lima (Peru ) and ended on 19 January in Santiago ( Chile) to 14 stages and over 8500 kilometers.

A total of 449 vehicles were at the start, of which 183 motorcycles, 38 quads, 153 cars and 75 trucks.

Note: The mileage shown are based on track length in the Car standings. At several stages, there was, however, different path lengths for the various vehicle classes, so partial, in that other -kilometer data for trucks or motorbikes / quads.

Incidents

On January 10, 2013, two died and seven more people were seriously injured as a Service Vehicle for the rally collided with two taxis. The French motorcyclist Thomas Bourgin died on 11 January 2013 in a collision with a police car.
