2013 Summer Universiade
The Summer Universiade in 2013, officially XXVII. Summer Universiade was held in the Russian city of Kazan on July 6 to July 17. 11,800 students from 163 countries competed in 27 sports to precious metal. Russia won ahead of China and Japan, the most medals, Germany finished in 14th place, 38th place in the Austria and Switzerland the 60th place in the medal table.
Competition venues
The Universiade will be held in 64 different sports venues in Kazan and the surrounding area, 30 sports venues were built for the Universiade.
Accommodation
In the athletes' village, which was built between 2009 and 2010, around 13,000 athletes and officials are housed during the event. After the Games, the village is a campus of the State University of Kazan and Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Torch Relay
At the University of Paris -Sorbonne, which organized the first university in 1923 an international university sports competition, the torch was lit July 15, 2012. Then the torch relay went through during 359 days once around the world and is carried by 2013 torch bearers through 51 cities.
