2013 World Baseball Classic – Qualification

For the first time in the history of the World Baseball Classic will be held qualifying tournaments. From the comprehensive 16-team lineup for the finals in 2013, 12 countries are already using their result at the World Baseball Classic in 2009, qualified. These are Australia, China, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Cuba, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Korea, United States and Venezuela.

The remaining four participants are determined in four qualifying tournaments. Canada, Panama, South Africa and Taiwan, which were already in the first two World Baseaball Classic this must qualify for the finals as they won in 2009 not a game at the World Baseball Classics.
