Jupiter is a town in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 55 156 inhabitants ( 2010).
Geography
The city is located in the north of the county at the mouth of the Loxahatchee River into the Atlantic Ocean, about 25 km north of West Palm Beach.
Demographics
According to the 2010 census, the then 55 156 inhabitants distributed in 29 825 households. The population density was 1064.8 inh. / Km ². 90.6 % of the population were white, 1.5% African American, 0.5% Native American and 2.0% of Asian Americans. 3.6% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.7% in different ethnic groups. 12.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 32.5 % of all households lived in 26.1 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 62.8 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.29 persons and the average family size is 2.80 people.
21.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.0% were 20-39 years old, 30.0% were 40-59 years old and 26.4 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 45 years. 49.7 % of the population were male and 50.3% female.
The average annual income was $ 66,370, while 8.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 88.47 % of the population spoke Spanish 7.17% and 4.36% had a different mother tongue.
Traffic
Interstate 95 and the Florida 's Turnpike lead the very west side by side in a north-south direction through the city. Through the city itself lead the U.S. Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A, 5, 706, and 811
By Jupiter leads the railway line of the Florida East Coast Railway, which is used for freight transport. The passenger traffic on the route was discontinued in 1968.
The nearest international airport is 30 km south Palm Beach airport in West Palm Beach.

The Jupiter Hammerheads baseball team is based in Jupiter.

The crime rate in 2010 was 174 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There were two murders, ten rapes, 37 robberies, 73 injuries, 203 burglaries, 818 thefts, 47 car thefts and one arson.
