Riviera Beach is a city in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 32,488 inhabitants ( 2010).

Riviera Beach has a crime rate that is well above the U.S. average, and is statistically one of the most dangerous cities in Palm Beach County. Also, the city has a very high poverty rate.

Geography

The city is adjacent to the north to West Palm Beach and is on the Atlantic Ocean. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.5 km ². Of these, 21.6 km ² land and 3.9 km ² water surface.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 32,488 inhabitants distributed to 17,124 households. The population density was 1504.1 inh. / Km ². 27.0 % of the population were white, 65.9 % African American, 0.4% Native American and 2.4% Asian Americans. 2.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.3% in different ethnic groups. 7.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 29.2 % of all households lived in 33.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 64.5 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.60 persons and the average family size is 3.22 people.

28.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.4% were 20-39 years old, 26.4 % were 40-59 years old and 20.4 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 38 years. 47.8 % of the population were male and 52.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 37,555, while 24.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 90.30 % of the population spoke Spanish 4.71% and 4.99 % had a different mother tongue.

Riviera Beach is located directly off of Interstate 95 through the city area also lead the U.S. Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A, 708, 710 and 809 The nearest international airport is 15 km south Palm Beach airport in West Palm Beach. In the urban area is the seaport Palm Beach.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 711 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the high range. There were 14 murders, 13 rapes, 125 robberies, 432 injuries, 638 burglaries, 1,050 thefts, 163 vehicle thefts, and seven arsons.
