Manalapan is a town in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 406 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Geography

The city is located on a barrier island elongated along the Atlantic Ocean. It leads directly to the north of South Palm Beach, on the west by Lantana and Hypoluxo and south to Ocean Ridge. Due to the metropolitan area leads the Florida State Road A1A. The direct bridge connection to the mainland by Lantana will be closed due to construction until November 2013.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 406 inhabitants distributed in 339 households. The population density was 338.3 inh. / Km ². 92.4 % of the population were white, 3.9 % African American, 0.0% Native American and 1.2% Asian Americans. 2.2% were members of other ethnic groups and 0.2 % of various ethnicities. 4.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 56.5 % of all households lived in 13.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years. 64.4 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.13 persons and the average family size is 2.55 people.

13.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 9.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 23.2% were 40-59 years old and 54.5 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 61 years. 50.7 % of the population were male and 49.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 235,625, while no one was living under the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 98.54 % of the population spoke French 1.45%.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 459 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the high range. There was a rape, three burglaries and 13 thefts.
