Wellington is a town in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 56 508 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

About 20 kilometers northeast of the community is located in West Palm Beach. The municipal area is 700 and 882 affected by the U.S. Highways 98 and 441, as well as the Florida State Roads 7, 80, 91 (Florida 's Turnpike ).

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 56 508 inhabitants distributed to 22,685 households. The population density was 702.8 inh. / Km ². 80.0 % of the population were white, 10.4% African American, 0.2% Native American and 3.8 % Asian Americans. 3.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.5% in different ethnic groups. 19.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

The average size of a household was 2.87 and the average family size is 3.22 people.

29.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.3% were 20-39 years old, 33.7 % were 40-59 years old and 16.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 40 years. 48.2 % of the population were male and 51.8 % female.

The average annual income was $ 78,268, while 8.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 83.52 % of the population spoke Spanish 12.18% and 4.30% had a different mother tongue.

Sports

Wellington is world famous for its equestrian events. At about 40 weeks a year there horse shows are held. Wellington will host the Winter Equestrian Festival, as well as the Global Dressage Festival. Also, Wellington is one of the largest polo facilities in the world. Many Canadian and U.S. Equestrian athletes live - at least during the winter months - in Wellington.
