Lake Park is a town in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 8,155 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The city is located 4 km north of West Palm Beach. Lake Park is traversed or affected by U.S. Highway 1 and by the Florida State Roads A1A and 850. In addition, in the immediate vicinity leads past the Interstate 95 in north-south direction on the city.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,155 inhabitants distributed to 3,742 households. The population density was 1456.3 inh. / Km ². 37.4 % of the population were white, 55.0% African American, 0.2% Native American and 2.4% Asian Americans. 2.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.8% in different ethnic groups. 8.0 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 22.5 % of all households lived in 32.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 60.1 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.57 persons and the average family size is 3.28 people.

27.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.4 % were 20-39 years old, 28.8 % were 40-59 years old and 16.1 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 36 years. 48.3 % of the population were male and 51.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 42,583, while 20.3 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 76.01 % of the population spoke Haitian 13.11%, 5.83% spoke Spanish, and 5.05% had a different mother tongue.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 502 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the high range. There was a rape, 25 robberies, 47 injuries, 116 burglaries, 478 thefts and 30 thefts.
