Loxahatchee Groves is a city in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 3,180 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The city is located about 25 km west of West Palm Beach.

History

Loxahatchee Groves was founded on 1 November 2006 as the 38th municipality of Palm Beach County, making it the youngest municipality in the county. City Council elections were first held on 13 March 2007.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 3,180 inhabitants distributed to 1,222 households. The population density was 99.4 inh. / Km ². 87.2 % of the population were white, 3.3% African American, 1.4% Native American and 1.6% Asian Americans. 4.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.4% in different ethnic groups. 18.7 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 26.1 % of all households lived in 29.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 70.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.25 persons.

22.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.9% were 20-39 years old, 36.7 % were 40-59 years old and 19.3 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 45 years. 54.8 % of the population were male and 45.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 75,119, while 15.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

Traffic

Lead on the southern edge of the urban area, the U.S. Highways 98 and 441 and the Florida State Roads 80 and 700 over on a common route of Loxahatchee Groves. The nearest airport is the Palm Beach Airport about 20 km to the east.
