Belle Glade Camp is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 1,141 inhabitants ( 2000).

Geography

Belle Glade Camp is located about 70 kilometers west of West Palm Beach. The CDP is affected by the Florida State Road 80.

History

On September 16, 1928, large parts of the town and the surrounding area were destroyed by a hurricane coming from the Atlantic. 1600-2500 people lost their lives that day.

Demographics

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 59.21 % of the population spoke Haitian 25.85 % and 14.94 % spoke Spanish.

Economy

A significant industry, there is not. The main employment sectors are: education, health and social services: ( 20.7% ), agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining operations: ( 38.7%), manufacturing ( 16.7 %).

Belle Glade Camp does not own schools. The following schools are located in Belle Glade:
