2015 FIFA Women's World Cup

The final round of the 7th World Cup Women ( officially: FIFA Women's World Cup 2015) will be held in the period from June 6 to July 5, 2015 in Canada. It occurred 24 national teams first in the group stage into six groups and then in the knockout system against each other.

Applicants for the alignment

A total of six countries had originally expressed an interest in hosting the World Cup 2015. Already in the spring of 2008, Chile declared to want to apply for the World Cup 2015. Other interested parties were New Zealand, Scotland and Turkey. However, all four countries rejected their plans, making it stayed with the applications in Canada and Zimbabwe.

Canada had already applied to host the 2011 World Championships, defeated in the vote but just against Germany. Canada was already host the U-19 World Cup 2002. In case of a successful bid, the Games will be held in six cities. The Canadian government declared already to participate, with 15 million Canadian dollars contribute to the costs of the tournament.

Zimbabwe has never hosted a World or European Championship in the women's area. Had the tournament been awarded to Zimbabwe, it would be the first Women's World Cup, which would have been held in Africa. On 1 March 2011 Zimbabwe drew infrastructure reasons behind his candidacy. Two days later, Canada was awarded the contract. Canada will also host the U -20 World Cup in 2014.

Qualification

Participant

The lineup for the World Cup in 2015 will increase from 16 to 24 teams so far. With the increase in the global development of women's football should be encouraged. Venues

On 4 May 2012, FIFA announced the six venues for the World Cup. The city of Halifax was initially also as a venue in the conversation, but renounced in March 2012 for reasons of cost consideration as a venue. Canada's largest city Toronto also gave up an account as a venue to avoid scheduling conflicts with the Pan American Games in 2015. The final will be held in Vancouver.

Mode

The mode corresponds to the last used in 1994 in the U.S. mode at the World Championships for men. The 24 qualified teams will be distributed among six groups. Host Canada has previously been set as group head of Group A. The four teams in each group play each other once each team in the group. The group winners and runners and the four best third will qualify for the knockout stages at which it goes in the knockout system. The first two matches in each group see each as a doubleheader in one place instead, for the third group game, all teams must travel to another venue, which hosts Canada and the opponent must travel the greatest distance in Montreal. The last matches found for each group instead of in parallel, it is also here in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa to double events with games of other groups.
