( 21791 ) Mattweegman is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which on 29 September 1999 at the Lincoln Laboratory Experimental Test System (IAU code 704) in Socorro, New Mexico was discovered within the project Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR ). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had already given on 24 September 1981 at the Karl Schwarzschild Observatory in Tautenburg and on 25 and 26 October 1981 in California at the Palomar Observatory, and in April 1998 the Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research (1998 HY19 ).

( 21791 ) was Mattweegman (* 1988) appointed on 22 August 2005 by Matt Weegman, a student of Winona Senior High School in Winona, Minnesota, that he at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2005, a pre-university research competition, in the category environmental Sciences Team Project had received ( group project in the environmental sciences ) with his twin brother Mitch the second prize. His project had the title A Nutritional Comparison of Historic Lesser Scaup Foods of the Zebra Mussel ( A nutritional comparison between the traditional food of Lesser Scaup and the zebra mussel ). After the overall winners in the team category in 2005 the asteroid ( 21633 ) Hsingpenyuan and ( 21634 ) Huangweikang were named.
