- In the 21st century BC, the so-called Coffin Texts in ancient Egypt arise.
- To 2100 BC created the Codex Ur - Nammu, the oldest surviving written collection of laws.
- 2070 BC, the Xia Dynasty was founded in China. The existence of the Xia dynasty, however, is controversial. (According to the Xia - Shang - Zhou Chronological project is another dating the year 2200 BC )
- By 2020 BC the Sumerian city Eshnunna gained independence from Ur. Thus, the first dynasty of Eshnunna begins as Independent city-state.
