Abbans-Dessous

Abban's lingerie is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Abban lingerie is on 250 m, 3 km north of Quingey and about 16 km southwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located on the western edge of the Jura, on a terrace south of the Doubstals.

The area of ​​3.20 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The northern boundary runs along the Doubs, which reaches out here in a large arc to the south and flows through a wide Talniederung. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over a 20 to 50 m high escarpment on the approximately 1 km wide terrace of Abban lingerie. In the far south, the municipality share of the ridge between the valleys of the Doubs and Loue. Here the highest elevation of Abban lingerie is achieved with 315 m.

Neighboring communities of Abban lingerie are Osselle in the north, Boussières in the east, Abban -Dessus in the south and Byans -sur -Doubs in the West.

History

On a rocky outcrop overlooking the Doubs Valley at Abban lingerie the Cluniac Priory Lieu- Dieu was founded in the late 12th century. In the Middle Ages Abban lingerie belongs to the reign Abban -Dessus. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

Population

With 236 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Abban's lingerie is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1891 210 people were still counted ), a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1980s again. Since then, the population has doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Abban's lingerie was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Boussières after Fourg. Another road connection with Abban -Dessus.
