Larnod

Larnod is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Larnod is located at 425 m, about 7 km southwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village stretches a scenic location on a ridge on the western edge of the Jura, between the valleys of Doubs and Loue in the north to the south.

The area of ​​4.05 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western Jura. The northern part of the area occupied by the height of Larnod that belongs to the system of law - edge chain in geological- tectonic terms. History

Situated on a Roman trade route between Besançon and Lyon, the municipality of Larnod was probably settled very early. The place name probably has very ancient roots and means something like Bergdorf ( from the Indo-European root words lar (village) and normal ( Berg) ). Since the Middle Ages Larnod was under the rule Arguel and formed after the construction of the castle in 1634 under the suzerainty own little rule. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.
