Aditya Mehta

Aditya Snehal Mehta (born 31 October 1985 in Maharashtra ) is an Indian Snooker player.

Career

2006 Mehta won bronze at the Asian Games in the team competition.

In 2008 he saw the index snooker main tour. He was the first Indian professional snooker players Yasin Merchant in since the 1990s. Qualifies he had. By participating in the finals of the national championship against Pankaj Advani India and the Asia Cup in 2008 against Jin Long

In his debut season as a professional player on the main tour, he lost three of the first four first-round matches. When qualifying for Grand Prix, Welsh Open and China Open he survived the first two qualifying rounds, then lost, however, in each case in the 3rd round against Michael Holt and Judd Trump. In qualifying for the World Snooker Championship in February, he lost his opening match with 10:8 against Lewis Roberts.

Since he had not collected enough world ranking points, he had to leave the main tour again. At the Shanghai Masters 2009 he took, thanks to a wildcard, in part, but lost already his first game with 0:5 against Ken Doherty.

In 2010 he won at the Asian Games team silver and bronze in singles. As an amateur, he played in Players Tour Championship 2010/11, but was rarely on the first laps out. However, a moderate success he achieved through the 4-0 victory over top -16 players Stephen Maguire. The nomination by the Asian federation, in the season 2011/ 12, brought him back to the main tour.

In August 2011, he won the 78th Indian National Championships in Chennai by a 6-2 victory against the 13 - time champions Alok Kumar.

His best result on the professional tour so far he won in qualifying for the Shanghai Masters 2011. He survived three rounds and only lost in the final round Ryan Day. He also took part in the 2010/11 season at many tournaments in the Players Tour Championship. His greatest success there was reaching the quarterfinals at the ninth tournament. In the second round he sat down 4-3 against the top 16 players by Matthew Stevens, before he lost against Martin Gould with 1:4.

The World Games 2013 in Cali, he won the gold medal in men's singles. Before a home crowd at the Indian Open 2013, he managed the first time the finals of a ranking tournament, but Ding Junhui was defeated, 0-5.

Personal

Aditya Mehta was among the few snooker players who played with glasses. Meanwhile, however, he uses contact lenses.
