Adolph Marx (bishop)

Adolph Marx ( born February 18, 1915 in Cologne, † November 1, 1965 ibid ) was the first bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville, Texas, USA.

Life

Adolph Marx was born in 1915 in Cologne. Emigrated to the USA, he was ordained there in 1940 for the Diocese of Corpus Christi as a priest.

On July 6, 1956, he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed auxiliary bishop of the same diocese and Titular Bishop of Citrus. He received his episcopal consecration Bishop Mariano Simon Garriga on 9 October 1956. Were co-consecrators Auxiliary Bishop John Joseph Krol from Cleveland and Bishop Charles Garrett Maloney from Louisville.
