Affeltrangen

Affeltrangen ( in local dialect: Afeltrange [( fo) afl̩traŋ ˑ ə ] ) is a municipality in the district of the Swiss canton of Thurgau Weinfelden.

It was formed on January 1, 1995 the former local municipalities Affeltrangen, Märwil, book in Märwil and Zezikon. In addition to the four villages are a number Weiler ( such as cold fountain ) and individual farms to the community.

Geography

The village is located in the upper Märwil Lauchetal and directions including Thurbo - line ( stations Tobel- Affeltrangen and Märwil ) with the high speed rail stations and Wil Weinfelden and on the Publicar with the cantonal capital Frauenfeld well connected.

History

779 Affeltrangen was first mentioned: A certain Realty donated to the monastery of St. Gall lands in villa que dicitur Affaltrawangas. The place name is composed of OHG apholtra / affaltra and wang .

With a further donation by Count Isenbart in 798, the monastery acquired the court rule on Affeltrangen. Towards the end of the 13th century abbot Rumold joined this from the Commandery Tobel, which she held until 1798.

Attractions

Worth seeing is the Reformed Church. The nave and the tower comes in part from the 13th - 14th, the choir from the 15th century. 1882 and 1934 were carried out comprehensive conversions.
