African Herbsman

African Herbsman ( Engl: African herbalist ) is a produced by Lee Perry reggae album of Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley and his band, The Wailers. It was released in 1973 shortly after the album Catch a Fire, which achieved international success for the first time.

African Herbsman is a collection of many early versions of songs that later appeared again and again on other albums and therefore also were popular, such as Lively Up Yourself or Sun Is Shining. Unlike later albums Marley sound recordings gathered here rather brittle (or as experts say: Jamaican - authentic ), but this speaks to some just for the apparently best musical phase Marley, since the classic reggae, yet with elements of dub, rocksteady and ska, will be carried forward. A special appeal is the album in that it was produced as a single album by Bob Marley and The Wailers from the producer, musician and Dubmixer legend Lee Perry, who added his special touch to the sound.
