Catch a Fire ( German: " catch fire " ) is the first major label album by Jamaican reggae band The Wailers; it was released in 1973. Catch a Fire marked the international breakthrough for the band, and especially Bob Marley became world famous, especially in Africa and the Caribbean and sporadically in Europe and the United States. The social criticism and military texts surprised many listeners, but also many were attracted to Marley and Peter Tosh's lyrics, which were confrontational and convey an optimistic view of a future free from oppression.
