Albert II, Count of Holstein-Rendsburg

Albrecht II von Holstein ( * ca 1369, † September 28, 1403 in Dithmar buried in Itzehoe ), son of Count Henry II of Holstein - Rendsburg and Ingeborg of Mecklenburg, was from his father's death in 1381 or 1384 to 1397 Count of Holstein- Rendsburg and 1397-1403 Count of Holstein- Segeberg.

After the death of his father coordinated his uncle Count Nikolaus Graf Senior cooperation Schauenburger. After his death the counties of Holstein and Stormarn based Segeberg between Albrecht and his elder brother Gerhard were divided on August 28, 1397. Albrecht II tried in vain to reach a division of the Duchy of Schleswig, which had received Gerhard as hereditary fief by the Danish King Olav II, but failed to the Danish legal opinions.

A raid of his father, Duke Eric IV of Saxe- Lauenburg, in Dithmar offered the occasion to the ongoing 1402-1404 feud of Holstein - Rendsburg counts against the Dithmarsch. Background of this dispute are the decades of attempts by the Counts of Holstein, to submit to the archbishopric of Bremen related to, but independent of secular government farming communities. Since Duke Erich had retired after committed feud and plundering on the sphere of influence of Albrecht, Count had been accused by the Dithmarsch the Mitwissenschaft. Albrecht purified himself against his brothers by an oath of allegiance of selfsame allegations. Then, allegedly pushed down by noble confidant and councils, counts the feud against the Dithmarsch began jointly; most energetic feud Driving, however, was Albrecht.

During this feud, Count Albrecht crashed during an evasive maneuver on the Norder Hamme and died as a result of a horse fall on 28 September 1403.

Albrecht was with Agnes ( † before 1415), daughter of Duke Erich IV of Saxe- Lauenburg († 1412 ), and Sophie of Brunswick- Lüneburg ( † 1416 ), married. Albrecht died childless.
