The Alberta Highway 4 (short- AB 4 ) results from the boundary between the United States and Canada to the north-west in the city of Lethbridge. It has a length of 103 km.

Route

The highway begins at the border with the U.S. state of Montana. It represents the northern continuation of Interstate 15 dar. right on the border, the village of Coutts, which gave its name to the border station. The highway leads as a four-lane bypass around the place. It runs in a north-westerly direction; over the majority of the route runs parallel to a railway line of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

When Warner Highway 36 opens a known under the name Veterans Memorial Highway. South of Stirling branches of Highway 52 to the west, north of the Stirling Highway 61 to the east. The route from the south to the city of Lethbridge as a bypass over. The previous route to Highway 5 on the 24 Avenue S was abandoned, instead, the route now to the north to Highway 3, the Crowsnest Highway. The old route is still to be found on many maps works.

The section of Highway 61 to the end of the highway on the Crowsnest Highway is part of the Red Coat Trail, which as far as Fort Mcleod, Alberta, leads from Winnipeg in Manitoba.

Extension

The complete range consists of four lanes. However, this does not constitute a motorway-like expansion, since the junctions are at the same level.
