Aleksey Lebedev

Alexei Lebedev (Russian: Алексей Лебедев; * 1982 ) is a former Russian natural track luge, who scored in the first half of the 2000s in the single-seater of the most successful of his country. He ran twice in the top five at the World Championships and the World Cup twice in the top 15, in 2002 Junior World Champion and won at the 2005 World Championships silver medal in the team competition.

Career

Lebedev took 2000-2002 International junior championships. While he did not reach top places at the European Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001, In 2002 he became Junior World Champion in the single-seater. Already in 2000 he took part in Olang for the first time at a World Cup in the general class and was 24th in the single-seater, and together with Ivan Lazarev ninth in doubles. Afterwards Lebedev launched in international competitions only in the single-seater and counted in this discipline until his retirement in late 2006, especially for large events the most successful natural track lugers his country.

The first World Cup race Lebedev denied on February 11, 2001 in Moscow, where he immediately became the tenth and thus the best of the six Russians launched. His next World Cup Appearances followed but only in the season 2002/2003. This winter, he took part in three of the six World Cup races, scored the eleventh place in Olang, ninth in Moscow and in fourth place in Kindberg best World Cup result of his career. At the World Championships of 2003 and 2005, Lebedev reached the best World Cup results, the Russians so far come in a single-seater.
