FIL World Luge Natural Track Championships 2000

The 12th FIL Natural Track Luge World Cup in 2000 was held from January 28 to 30 in Olang South Tyrol, Italy. Of the three competitions in Italy, Austria and Russia were able to win each one. The most successful nation with a total of four medals was Austria. In addition to these three countries that had previously won all the medals in natural track luge world championships, went this year for the first time a medal in Poland.

Single Seater Men

World champion in the men's single seater was the fastest time in the first of three scoring passes of the Austrians Gerald Kallan. For him it was the first World Cup medal. Second place went to the five-time world champion Gerhard Pilz, also from Austria, despite the best times in the second and third pass his deficit from the first run could not catch up. Anton Blasbichler from Italy won bronze and therefore its third medal at the World Championships. The titleholder, Reinhard Gruber was fourth.

Single Seater Ladies

In the women's single-seater the Russian Ekaterina Lawrentjewa with Laufbestzeiten in all three scoring passes for the first time world champion was. With their second- best time Sonja Steinacher brought from Italy silver. In the previous World Cup in 1998 it had already become a third party. The bronze medal won by the Austrian Elvira lumberjack with the respective third-best run time. For them, it was the third and last medal at the World Championships, after winning silver in 1992 and 1996. The defending champion Lyubov Panjutina finished fifth.

Two-seater

In doubles competition won Armin Mair and David Mair from Italy that were already after the first of two scoring runs in the lead. The Austrian doubles pair Reinhard Beer and Herbert Kögl could still work ahead in the second round in second place after fifth place in the first race with the fastest time. The bronze medal went to Andrzej Laszczak and Damian Waniczek, which thus won the first medal at Natural Track Luge World Championships in Poland.
