FIL World Luge Natural Track Championships 2011
The 18th FIL Natural Track Luge World Cup took place from 26th to 30th January 2011 at the toboggan run Grantau in Obergurgl in the Austrian state of Tyrol. After arrival and a training day took place on Friday, January 28, the team competition and the opening ceremony. On Saturday, both scoring runs the doubles, the first two races in the Women's Singles and the first scoring run in the men's singles were played. On Sunday, 30 January, the World Championship with the third round in the women 's singles as well as the second and third round in the men's singles has ended. At the championship rounds, a total of 72 sledders and sledders inner part from 13 countries. The world champion titles went to the Italian Renate Gietl in single-seaters of the ladies, the Austrian Chamber Gerald Lander in the men's single-seater and the Russians Pavel and Ivan Lazarev Porschnew in doubles. The team competition was won by Team Italy I Renate Gietl, Anton Blasbichler, Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara.

Single Seater Men

Gerald Lander Chamber of Austria posted the fastest time in the first of three races. Then she handed him twice the third-best time to win the gold medal ahead of compatriot Robert Batkowski, the world champion of 2003, which was only in fifth place after race one, then twice the second fastest time in the final standings just four hundredths of a second behind Kammerlander remained. The Russians Pavel and Ivan Lazarev Porschnew drove in the first scoring run the fastest time in the second set the second fastest and was the third time after 2005 and 2007 world champion in doubles. Second place went to the defending champion Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara from Italy. They were after the first run in third position and improved with the fastest time in the second run even one rank. The bronze medal won as with the World Championships 2000, 2005 and 2009, Poland Andrzej Laszczak and Damian Waniczek. They were after race one only in sixth place and reached the third fastest time in the second round still a podium, four hundredths of a second before the Austrians Christian Schatz and Gerhard Muhlbacher that in the first run were still with the second fastest time on a medal, in the second round but only the sixth fastest time achieved.

The team competition was won with the highest number of points, the best overall running time and the fastest time in the Women's Singles Team Italy I, which was as early as 2009 world champion in the same composition. The silver medal went to the team Austria I before Team Russia I, which set the fastest time in the doubles. The fourth-placed team Austria II won the men's Einsitzerlauf and had a better five hundredths of a second total time as the third-ranked Russian team, but three points less.
