Gerald Kammerlander

Gerald chamber Lander ( born August 13, 1981 in Zams ) is an Austrian natural track luge. He is a member since 2000 of the Austrian natural track luge team. Among his biggest successes include the world title in 2011 single-seater, two World Cup victories in the 2008 /2009 season and second place in the single-seat World Cup in the 2007 /2008 season. He became Junior World Champion in doubles in 1999. His younger brother Thomas Lander Chamber is also natural track luge.

Career

The first major successes reach Kammerlander in winter 1997/98, when he was the overall winner in the Intercontinental Cup in the junior class and, together with Joachim Schopf won the silver medal in the doubles at the Junior European Championships 1998 in Feld am See. The next year he was in Huttau together with scoop junior world champion in doubles. Another medal in the junior class, he won third place in the single-seater in the European Junior Championship 2001 in animal and in the 2001/2002 season, he was the overall winner in the Intercontinental Cup.

In the World Cup Kammerlander is exclusively in the single-seater at the start. He played his first race on 19 December 1999 Oberperfuss, where he finished ninth. This winter, but this was his only World Cup races and also in the next season he came only once in the World Cup for use. Since the season 2002/2003 Chamber Lander starts regularly in the World Cup and since then he was able to classify always in the top ten in the single-seat World Cup. In addition, in 2005 he was Austrian Champion in the single-seater. In the World Cup season 2006/2007 Chamber Lander scored differently than in the previous winter, no podium and fell in the overall ranking by two places to ninth back. The greatest success of this winter was winning the bronze medal in the team Austria II together with Marlies Wagner, Reinhard Beer and Herbert Kögl the team competition of the 2007 World Championships in Grande Prairie. In the single-seater, he finished seventh place at this event.

In the next two years Kammerlander achieved its greatest successes so far in the World Cup: In the 2007/2008 season he reached with a third place in Obergurgl and two second places at the end of season in Železniki behind the superior winner Patrick Pigneter and with only one point ahead of the third-ranked Florian Breitenberger second place in the overall World Cup single-seater. At the beginning of the season 2008/2009 the 27 -year-old in St. Sebastian and Umhausen celebrated its first two World Cup victories, but could not get in the other four races of the season in the top ten and therefore reached the overall World Cup only fifth place.

At the European Championships in 2010, he scored the fifth place in single-seaters and won together with Marlies Wagner, Christian Schatz and Gerhard Muhlbacher as with the 2007 World Cup bronze medal in the team competition. In the World Cup Kammerlander remained in the 2009/2010 season without a top result. His best result was a sixth place in the overall World Cup Latzfons and he only reached the twelfth grade.
