Alfred Naqqache

Alfred Georges Naccache ( Naqqache ) (Arabic ألفرد جورج النقاش; * 1887 † 28 September 1978) was a Lebanese journalist, publisher and politician. He was from April 7 to November 26, 1941, the Lebanese Prime Minister and then from 1941 to 1943, the Lebanese president.

He founded with Gabriel Kabbaz the French-language daily L' Orient, today L'Orient - Le Jour and Pierre Gemayel, and Charles Helou 1936, the Lebanese Phalangist movement (also known under the name: Kata'ib ), a political party, which essentially Christians in Lebanon represented and fought along with the Sunni movement al - Nadschada for Lebanon's independence from France. Shortly after the foundation he left with Charles Helou (later President ) the party. Naccache was a short time before the independence of Lebanese President ( of 9 April 1941 to 18 March 1943). A street in Beirut is named after him. He was a Maronite.

The quote of Naccache Lebanese National Pact for Two negations do not have a state in L' Orient on March 10, 1949 yielded six months in prison for him and the editor Kesrwén Labaki. From 1953 to 1955 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon.
