Alfred Neuland

Alfred Neuland ( born October 10, 1895 in Walk, † 16 November 1966 in Tallinn, Soviet Union) was an Estonian weightlifter.

Career

Alfred Neuland grew up in the Estonian town Valga and began at age 14 with the weight lifting. In 1911 he played his first match in Riga, where he won the lightweight. The first World War interrupted his sports career. Then he went at two Olympic Games at the start: In 1920, he won a gold and a silver medal in 1924. In 1921, Alfred Neuland own company. In Estonia we have not forgotten him. After regaining of political independence of Estonia in 1990 a monument was erected in his home town of Valga.
