Allansford, Victoria

Allansford is a small town in the Western District of Victoria, Australia, located at the western end of the Great Ocean Road. It is 252 km from Melbourne and 10 kilometers from Warrnambool. Through the town flows the Hopkins River.

History

The Post Office opened on 1 January 1860. The Port Fairy Railway, which runs through the town, was opened in 1890 and held earlier in the Allansford Station.

Today

2006 Allansford had a population of 630 people.

Warrnambool is planning an industrial park for this area.

The place has a team that Australian Football in the Warrnambool & District Football League.

In the city the Great Ocean Road ends and goes to the Princes Highway.
